Program Purpose

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamental aspects of the public interest law, including the substantive legal and policy issues presented by this area of law, as well as the ethical obligations of attorneys to engage in public interest work and the myriad ways in which they may do so.
  • Develop fundamental skills needed by the modern public interest lawyer, including in the litigation, transactional, and policy contexts.
  • Develop a sophisticated understanding of the overall governance system in which public interest law and policy rests, either by specializing in a particular area of the field or by taking a breadth of courses in this area.
