Program Purpose

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamental aspects of the intellectual property system in the United States, including the substantive legal and policy issues presented by and in that system, specifically, in areas of patent law, copyright, trademarks, and trade secrets.
  • Develop fundamental skills needed by the modern intellectual property lawyer, including in the transactional, litigation, and prosecution contexts
  • Develop a sophisticated understanding of the overall governance system for U.S. intellectual property, either by specializing in a particular area of intellectual property law (patents, copyright, or trademarks) or by taking a breadth of courses in this area.
