- Understand the fundamental aspects of the criminal justice system in the United States, including the substantive legal and policy issues presented by and in that system, as well as relevant evidentiary, procedural, and constitutional frameworks and law.
- Develop fundamental skills needed by the modern criminal lawyer, including at the trial and appellate levels for both prosecution and defense.
- Develop a sophisticated understanding of the overall governance system in which criminal law rests, either by specializing in a particular area of criminal law study or by taking a breadth of courses in this area.
